Introducing XIUMIN

The Baozi here is called Xiumin.

His stage name is "Xiumin" and I guess it has no relation with his real name.

He is called "Baozi" as most of you would know. "Baozi" means dumpling in Chinese. It is due to his cute and soft cheeks which resembles dumplings that you can see in the restaurant. Besides, it is pronounced as [bao-z] not [bao-zi].

Actually his real Korean name is 김민석, which may be romanized as "Kim Minseok".

Unlike other western countries, in Korea, a person's name consists of family name and given name where family name comes first and given name comes last.

That means is his family name is "Kim"
and is his given name is "Minseok".

So you can call him "Kim Minseok" or just "Minseok" which is his given name.

Anyway, it would be unfamiliar with you guys but a person's name in Korea is usually comprised of three Chinese characters. One for family name and the other two for given name. Certainly, that borrowed Chinese characters are read differently in Korea's own phonological way.

One thing to focus on here is that there is special meaning to each Chinese character and of course each name has their own meaning.

Chen's name in Chinese character is written as
金珉錫

Quite complex right?

Each Chinese character is read (kim)/(min)(seok) in Korea's own phonological system. That means Chinese people will read these characters differently to Korean people.

Now, lets briefly explain the meaning included in his real Korean name.

First, (kim) which is his family name means "gold". But one thing you should know is that people usually don't give any substantial meaning to their first name although there exists its own corresponding meaning. That means although the Chinese character written above means "gold" in normal conversation, his family name itself has no relation to gold or something. It is just borrowed for the sound only.

Second, (min) which is the second letter of his given name means "jade or precious stone". It would metaphorically indicates the preciousness or value.
and finally, (seok) means "tin (one kind of mineral, stone)".

Therefore, his name consists of the names of two kinds of stones which are valued precious and worth.

Anyway, that was for his name. It was quite long :)

Now let's move on to his birth date.

He was born on 26 March 1990.
The year 1990 was "the Year of Horse" according to the Chinese zodiac sign system.
And his constellation sign is Aries.

He has both parents and one younger sister in his family members.

His height and weight is not revealed officially but I guess he belongs to the group of short members in EXO (I didn't mean to tease him lol).

He is in the role of sub vocal, sub rapper and sub dancer (Actually he is good at so many various fields).

Personally, the first impression I had when I first saw Xiumin was "So cute and also chic".
Actually, Xiumin has a really cute and charming face but he has somewhat masculine personalities I think. I guess that is the two faces of Janus which has both the face of a boy and the face of a man.
Anyway, the conclusion is he is so handsome and nice :)

Well, thanks for reading.
See you soon!
