Introducing D.O.

This seemingly cute boy is called D.O. (literally D.O. as you can see).

His stage name "D.O." is come from his family name "Do".

Many fans call his stage name as "D dot O dot" impressed by the dots included in it.

Actually his real Korean name is 도경수, which may be romanized as
" Do Kyeongsoo".

Unlike other western countries, in Korea, a person's name consists of family name and given name where family name comes first and given name comes last.
That means is his family name is "Do"  
and is his given name is "Kyeongsoo".

So you can call him "Do Kyeong Soo" or just "Kyeong Soo" which is his given name.

Anyway, it would be unfamiliar with you guys but a person's name in Korea is usually comprised of three Chinese characters. One for family name and the other two for given name. Certainly, that borrowed Chinese characters are read differently in Korea's own phonological way.

One thing to focus on here is that there is special meaning to each Chinese character and of course each name has their own meaning.

D.O's name in Chinese character is written as 都暻秀
Quite complex right?

Each Chinese character is read 都(do)/暻(kyeong)秀(soo) in Korea's own phonological system. That means Chinese people will read these characters differently to Korean people.

Now, lets briefly explain the meaning included in his real Korean name.

First, 都(do) which is his family name means "capital city". But one thing you should know is that people usually don't give any substantial meaning to their first name although there exists its own corresponding meaning. That means although the Chinese character written above means "capital city" in normal conversation, his family name itself has no relation to capital city or something. It is just borrowed for the sound only.

Second, 暻(kyeong) which is the first letter of his given name means "sunlight or bright"
and finally, 秀(soo) which is the second letter of his given name means "excellent or superb".

Therefore, when combining both there comes "brightly excellent" or just literally "bright and excellent" for Kyeongsoo.
Really impressive name isn't it?

Anyway, that was for his name. It was quite long :)

Now let's move on to his birth date.

He was born on 12 January 1993 on the beautiful day (I guess :P) of winter.
The year 1993 was "the Year of Chicken" according to the Chinese zodiac sign system.
And his constellation sign is Capricorn.

He has both parents and one older brother in his family members.

His height and weight is not revealed officially but I guess he belongs to the group of short members in EXO (I didn't mean to tease him lol).

He is in the role of main vocal in the team (Actually his vocal is wonderful).
Recently he was on air in Drama, also the movie in which he played a role will be released in upcoming November.

Personally, the first impression I had when I first saw D.O. was "He is so cute".
His small body and cute face made me to think of teddy bear.
However, unlike his outer appearance, there may be some masculine features inside him. Although even that features appear so cute to me :)
